Its been said many times on this blog to try and at least blog once a day. Why? It drives traffic. People like new content to read, search engines like to index new content. OK - lets be realistic, if you run your blog as a hobby sometimes you cant make a post every day, then that leads to another day, then another and you end up not blogging for a month *cough* not guilty *cough*.

If you get a fantastic idea in your head you want to share - you do actually go home after work at night and blog about it. Its just getting those ideas. Here are some of the ways to get ideas to write about;

  • Write about daily events at work. If funny, stupid events occur every day at work - consider starting a blog dedicated to this.
  • Read other peoples blog posts that interest you. It is likely you have a response or an idea to expand upon.
  • Write a tutorial about a procedure or process that you think will of use. PSD tutorials, PHP tutorials, SQL tutorials….you get the idea.
  • Write reviews on various affiliate programs, new services you are experimenting with.
  • Write for money. Pay for post. Money is an incentive to write about anything isnt it?
  • Create a ‘Top 100 ideas’ list. A comprehensive list of the top whatever you choose to write about.
  • Be lazy. Dont write at all - encourage other users to post for you.
  • Be aggressive. Write an alternative and opposing viewpoint to another popular post.
  • Release your secrets to the public, be it research, processes - well dont let all of your secrets out ;)
  • Link bait. Make some completely random crap up, but a believable post that will leave people thinking what?!?!!
  • Create a post containing one question. You can follow this up in later posts. Run polls.
  • Write a ‘for dummies’ post. SQL for dummies. PHP for dummies. Etc…
  • Create an argument in a post of which is the subject of general interest to you. You’re more passionate that way.
  • Post about your other posts. Which ones are good? Which ones are bad?
  • Create monthly reviews. This way you post at least once a month to your blog. *note to self*.
  • Write a post like this if your stuck for ideas anyway.
