Relatively recently, you would have noticed that on a lot of phpLD based website directories that thumbnails are not working. The fix for this such problem is relatively simple and depending on your template you will need to edit:

• link.tpl
• main.tpl
• details.tpl

You then simply replace the msn girafa or alexa screenshots code with:

http://www.artviper.net/screenshots/screener.php?&url=

Therefore, the complete image tag would look like:

<img alt=”site preview” class=”thumb” src=”http://www.artviper.net/screenshots/screener.php?&url={$link.URL|escape|trim}” />

There are plenty more alternative services out there. This one however, does have good reviews and more information about implementing this service for the phpLD thumbnails problem can be found here.

It has been announced that Wordpress 2.3 will be released on September 24th
.  With the current availability of Beta 2 (at the time of writing this post) you should be aware that the code is still “rough” and you should be confident and comfortable with web technologies if you are willing to try it out.

That said, this is still rough code, so you should only test the beta if you are comfortable troubleshooting PHP issues, filing tickets, and backing up your blog’s data.

DooBDee.net is currently in the progress of porting the free phpBB3 styles to free wordpress themes.  Hopefully all styles and colour schemes on the free phpbb3 styles page will soon be ported to free wordpress themes (with matching colour schemes).

Permission has been gained through the original creator of the phpBB themes to allow them to be ported and distributed on DooBDee.net for download:

Currently, only the AcidTech wordpress theme and its colour schemes are available and are being tested for bugs before I release other ports from ST Software.

I’m sure most of you are aware of the social networking and the web 2 concept storming the internet at the moment. Luckily, there is an excellent plugin available which will allow you to select social networking websites from within a control panel, which will then be appended to your post content automatically for users to submit them to a social network.
